Green Building Construction
At Buracker Construction LLC we are always working to build an energy efficient home. In considering things that save you money “down the road” you will likely have a higher investment up front.  Many of the alternative energy items cost a bit more to start, but the more people start incorporating them into their home plans, the more the prices will start to drop on the materials.  For example, wind turbines used to be over $50,000 and have now dropped to $12,000 to $15,000 depending on the system.  There are currently tax credits available from the federal government for many of the alternative energy items that are a great incentive to “go green”.
Some simple things that don’t cost a lot more up front, but are just good choices are:
Framing -  Our standard framing construction is 2” x 6” exterior walls which we feel gives you a more sturdy construction and allows for additional insulation in exterior walls.  A standard 2” x 4” exterior wall allows for R-13 insulation which meets the current building code.  However, when you bump up to 2” x 6” framing you can use R-19 insulation in your exterior walls for a greater insulation and energy savings factor.

Energy Star Windows and Appliances -  If you select Energy Star rated Windows and Appliances, the additional cost is marginal, but the energy savings will add up year after year.
We also would be happy to discuss with you the many alternate energy choices that are available.  Depending on your house location and your wants and needs, you can choose from one or all of the following: Wind Turbines, Solar Panels, Radiant Heat, Tankless Water Heaters, Water Collector Tanks, SIP Panels.

There are more new energy saving products coming on the market every day.  Let us know if we can help you decide what is right for your project.
