Special Projects

We live and work in an area that we love, the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and in particular, the Browntown and Bentonville communities.  We feel that in addition to our work for our customers we should also give back to our community through volunteering our time, energy and talent for projects that we consider to be important to us.  In 2010 we have two projects that we will be working on and completing in the Browntown area. Browntown Community Center
First, we will be building a 50’ x 20’ picnic shelter for the Browntown Community Center.  Martha’s mother, who passed away in 2007 always felt that a picnic shelter would be a good addition to the Browntown Community Center whose main building is the 1800’s 3 room Browntown Schoolhouse. With her mothers memory in mind, Martha has spent considerable time raising money to build the shelter and as soon as weather permits, we will have it built with all volunteer labor.  Buracker Construction, along with our friends and neighbors will build this long anticipated shelter so that all the residents of the Browntown area will be able to bring their families to the center to enjoy the new shelter.
Homes For Our Troops
Second, and most important is our upcoming house that we will be building for Sgt. Arthur “Bunky” Woods through Homes For Our Troops, www.homesforourtroops.org/woods a national non-profit organization that builds homes for severely wounded soldiers.  Sgt. Woods is near and dear to our hearts as he was a childhood and current friend of our sons Dusty and Luke.  Sgt. Woods was shot in Iraq in 2006 and is currently paralyzed from the shoulders down.   We consider it our duty and honor to volunteer as the General Contractor for this project.  The home will be constructed in Eagles Landing Subdivision in scenic Browntown, VA as soon as Building Permits are obtained.  We are looking forward to the project and are so thrilled by the community as a whole who have volunteered to help in any way that they can.  The Build Brigade will be sometime in March 2010 and during that time we will do a 3 day build that will take the house from the foundation to framed and under roof with siding, windows and doors.
Anyone wishing to help, donate or get more information can do so by contacting us at Buracker@comcast.net or through the Homes for Our Troops website listed above.  We’ll be adding pictures as the work progresses, so stay tuned.
